Set in the picturesque village of Burton Bradstock on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, this two bedroom, traditional thatched Dorset Cottage was built over 350 years ago. Listed by English Heritage it is one of the oldest cottages in the village.
The cottage has been fully refurbished with a stylish bathroom, updated kitchen and contemporary furniture throughout, providing comfortable modern living without losing the cosy character of a traditional Dorset cottage. Outside is a pretty enclosed cottage garden that overlooks the cliffs and coast path.
The National Trust’s Hive Beach is just a short walk over fields, where you will find its famous cliffs and the award winning Hive Beach Cafe. This unspoilt beach is perfect for children, dog walkers, fossil hunters, coastal and wildlife enthusiasts.
Lilac Cottage is just across the road from two award winning pubs, The Anchor and the Three Horseshoes which was recently voted best pub in Dorset. A real treat for foodies, both pubs are well known for the quality of their local food and drink. West Bay, the pretty fishing harbour made famous by ITV’s Broadchurch, is just two miles away as is Bridport with its farmers market and weekly antiques market. Inside Lilac Cottage
On the Ground Floor you’ll find a cosy Lounge with fireplace, a spacious kitchen dining room with separate boot room and a modern bathroom with bath & shower.
Upstairs is the Master Bedroom with king size sleigh bed and a second bedroom with twin singles that can also be made up into a super king size double.
The Garden
Outside you’ll find our seaside garden which was created by Penny who is a professional gardener and helped create the garden that won Gold at Hampton Court in 2023. The coastal themed garden is gated, with a lawn and fully lit patio dining area overlooking the cliffs and The South West Coast Path. The perfect place to watch the sunset with a glass of wine at the end of the day.
The cottage has all the amenities you’d expect with full gas central heating, WiFi, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, Smart TV with Freeview and all your favourite streaming platforms, Blu Ray DVD player with a selection of recently released films, Nespresso coffee machine, DAB Radios, travel cot, high chair, stair gate and most everything we could think of. Dogs are very welcome and the cottage has dog bowls, rugs and even free poo bags.

Lilac Cottage is a beautiful thatched cottage in a picturesque village. The cottage has been tastefully renovated with a secure garden which all made for a comfortable week. A bonus was how dog friendly both the cottage was and the local pubs, can recommend both the Anchor and Three Horseshoes.
A very comfortable, well equipped and contemporary cottage in the lovely village of Burton Bradstock. The cottage also benefits from a nice garden. Location is great with great country walks and the beach down the road. Plenty of good pubs and food options in the village and the surrounding area.
